Bechtler Museum of Modern Art located in Charlotte, NC is a 36,634 SF arts facility. This facility considered an “architectural gem” because of its fourth-floor exhibit space cantilevered over Uptown Charlotte’s First Street Plaza and a 45-foot spherical “super column” that supports the weight of the buildings extensions. It is the first building in the Southeast to use a specific type of cladding system giving it a distinctive terra cotta exterior. This facility consists of a glass entrance, ground floor museum store and café with an exhibition area, two second floor classrooms, exhibition space and outdoor sculpture garden/courtyard area with city view. Spectrum provided the interior metal framing and exterior framing systems, drywall and acoustical ceilings.
Located in downtown Greenville, SC, this 12,000 SF renovation of the existing building added new additions to the existing and extensive hardscape and an outdoor music pavilion. The lobby was completely renovated to give the Peace Center a new facelift.
The renovation was completed in 2012 allowing the Peace Center to better serve the community with an expanded Peace Concert Hall lobby, the addition of Genevieve’s, Ramsaur Studio, the Huguenot Mill Loft, and an airy outdoor amphitheater, TD Stage.
SpringHill Suites by Marriott is a ground-up hotel in uptown Charlotte, NC adjacent to the Spectrum Center. Constructed on a tight, 0.25-acre urban site, the hotel includes 195 rooms and 16 stories plus a basement level. Additional features include a 3,000-square-foot ballroom on the 16th floor and a 1,500-square-foot rooftop terrace with sweeping views of uptown.
The Vance Athletic Center is located at Davidson College in Davidson, NC.
The Vance Center serves as the new main entrance to the complex and arena bringing the 55,000 SF two-story addition to the Baker Sports Complex. The building includes team facilities, locker rooms, coaches’ offices and two varsity practice gyms for men’s basketball and women’s basketball and volleyball. In addition, this facility includes an athletic club, hall of fame, wellness classroom and dance studios.
Morrison Place was a three-phased project located in Charlotte, NC. Phase 1 (B&E) was 92,000 SF and consisted of two, two-level mixed-use buildings. Phase II (F&G) was 648,000 SF and is one mixed-use building. Phase III (A2 and C) were 21,000 SF and consisted of a retail outparcel, offices, and condos. The ground level of each building includes shops and restaurants. The second level of each building includes residential condominiums.
Riverbanks Zoo and Garden located in Columbia, SC. This project consisted of three phases of construction including the addition of a grizzly bear exhibit, river otter exhibit, guest services building, a gift shop, new main zoo entry plaza, a seal and sea lion exhibit and a pedestrian bridge.
Integrity Animal Health Group, formerly known as Verdin Veterinary Clinic is Simpsonville’s provider of top of the line, compassionate animal care and veterinary services. Recently, the practice was relocated to a new facility. Relocation provides them with a 12,000 sq ft building.
Chiquita Brands international location in Charlotte, NC. This 130,000 SF facility includes Modular workspaces, conference/meeting rooms, call center, wellness room, marketing photo shoot rooms, file storage and locker rooms with showers. The project consisted of a six-floor up-fit, LEED Gold Certified corporate headquarters within the 20 story Nascar Plaza office tower. Spectrum provided metal framing, drywall and acoustical ceilings. This is the second project Spectrum completed for Chiquita Brands; the first being at their former corporate headquarters facility in Cincinnati Ohio.
This 40,000 SF project added a new Performing Arts Center to the Christ Church Episcopal School’s campus located in Greenville, SC. This new Performing Arts Center improves the theatrical performance spaces for the school and creates a “home base” for the school’s growing instrumental music program. The building includes a 600-seat proscenium theatre with scene shop and dressing facilities, several large classrooms for instrument instruction and rehearsal, and a large lobby for pre-show functions.
Acoustics played a major part in the design of the theatre space featuring angled wood paneling and a variable acoustic drapery system overhead, making the entire space customizable for the type of performance.
Spectrum provided the interior and exterior metal framing, drywall, acoustical reflectors, acoustical wall panels, linear wood ceilings, framing and architectural wood wall panels in the theater, curved reveals, and acoustical ceilings.
Spectrum completed construction on the Five Forks Medical Office building earlier this week. This two-story building, just under 31,000 SF, consists of 40 exam rooms, CT Scan room, X-Ray room, nurse stations and staff break rooms. This project took approximately six months to complete. The open house was on July 23, 2019 and received great praise from the hospital. The facility’s grand opening is on Monday, July 29, 2019.
